LG LA126HV Art Cool 15,100 BTU Heat and 11,800 BTU Cool Mini Split Air Conditioner with Advanced Inverter Technology, Plasma Air Purifying System and Jet Cool. I installed one of these in May 2012 and it failed in January 2013. The unit is under warranty, it appears to be a failed circuit board in the outside unit, but since the warranty is parts-only, it will still cost me a couple hundred dollars or more to repair.Functionally, the unit is great. High efficiency, quiet, everything advertised.There is a newer version of this unit that has a 5 year parts and 7 year compressor warranty (this model only has 2 year parts and 3 year compressor). I don't know if LG extended the warranty because the newer model is more reliable, or in response to competitive pressure, but either way a longer warranty would make me a lot more comfortable right now.EDIT: Apparently the unit did not die, resetting the breaker brought it back to life. The HVAC guys that I called out took it apart and were able to test the control board and nothing tested bad. We reset the breaker again, leaving it off for a couple minutes -- this part is important, as there is a capacitor that takes a long time to discharge and resetting the breaker won't help if the capacitor is still maintaining power. So... the good news is that it wasn't broken after all. The bad news is that it took a few hours of my time to research and pull manuals, and over $100 for the repair call.
