I live in Texas where it gets to be 115 at times so a good A/C is a must. I have tired Frigidaire, GE, and other models of window A/C's over the years and Whirlpool is the best. They are made from better materials that last 5 times as long as other brands and the A/C itself outperforms others hands down. It reads the room temp correctly which other brands do not which helps keep the room at the temp you want. This A/C also runs quieter than other brands and blows colder and blows out a higher volume of air then other brands. They may cost more money but they are worth every penny then some. Take my advise and buy a Whirlpool A/C and you will be happy and cool for years to come. I will update this in a year to let you know how it is running.

It works great so far. Like the other reviewer , my ac was also dented on the side, and the front cover was falling off. It took a bit to clip all the vent louvers back in place. It gets cold quick and cools great, the fan is somewhat loud, only because it moves a ton of air, even on low. I like the auto mode, but I imagine most ACs in this class have the same features. I got it cause of its newer design, not as outdated looking as the LG. The display is all blue light, and very bright. Overnight mode is interesting. Its sets the fan speed to low, raises the temp 2 degrees an hour for two hours, then holds that temp for 6 hours, then goes back to your previous settings. It also turns off the bright display lights. I'm happy with my ac, although having something this heavy shipped UPS is taking a risk.

I bought this a/c in april for my summer camp and unfortunately did not open the box until today. It looked ok from the outside but upon removing it from the packaging it was damaged. The metal casing is bent on the bottom corner where the electrical cord comes out and the plastic front cover was broken off where it screws in the side of the unit. Fortunately it still works fine and doesn't rattle or anything even with the plastic cover not attached . I know now to check all products immediately upon receipt from Amazon even if they are large and bulky and I don't plan to use them right away. I could return it but I would have to pay for shipping and only get a part of the cost back which would not be cost effective.
