This is a fabulous unit. It works very well and cools my living space to my satisfaction. Although it is quite expensive compared to similar sized units that are a conventional style for large windows, I had to use this unit because my windows are smaller in width than normal. I bit the bullet and it paid off for me. It is a bit akward for one person to install, but doable. The features are great. I oversized my needs, as I would recommend anyone who is looking for a window unit. I also purchased the 10,000btu Fridgidaire convention window unit for my bedroom and am equally impressed. For those who say any window unit is loud, you should have installed regular A/C with the condesor unit on the outside of the house and paid 10 times the price. The white noise produced by these window units arent a big deal, no more than a table fan....CHEERS!!!

This air conditioner lives up to its potential. Best one I have ever bought. My electric bill was even lower this year. Cool house, lower bill who could ask for anything more!!! Worth every penny!

This unit easily kept a 500 sq. Ft. room 80 degrees when it was over a hundred this past summer. We live in the mountains of New Mexico so it is only needed during the heat of the day. It may have cooled it more but we are perfectly comfortable at 80 and never bumped it any lower. I must also say it cools the room rather quickly and there have been times we've just turned it on for 15 minutes do drop the temp a couple degrees. This was to replace an older unit that was framed into the wall near our kitchen and this unit fit perfectly. I was surprised our electric bill only went up $30 dollars a month, although we only have it on for about 6-8 hours a day. I would definitely get another one of these units. When in doubt I would say get a bigger unit but if you only need to cool a couple hundred square feet, like a small bedroom, the 8,000 or 10,000 would probably do fine. My unit was on sale for $450 so the current price seems high so perhaps some shopping around may be in order. No problems at all so far and I will update my review if it fails.**Note: This unit is designed to hold a fairly large amount of water in the pan. As water collects on the cold coils, it drips to this pan and drains to the back of the unit. I thought it should be draining OUT of the pan and suspected a problem but found out this is normal after some research. The unit actually pulls up water from the pan with a slinger on the fan and this helps cool the hot coils at the back of the unit and makes aids in cooling. So, you will hear a slight flapping sound outside when standing next to the unit. This is normal and is just the slinger flicking up water as it goes around. Barely noticeable unless you are outside looking right at it and are obsessive compulsive like me. Also, when it turns off you will hear a slight rush of water running back into the pan; again this is normal from my research.
