I needed air conditioner asap for my mother, so I signed up for Amazon Prime and had one overnighted to her house. I opened box to find no instruction manual, remote control, screws missing and worst of all, upon plugging in the unit I noticed the motor wasnt even attached to the frame.I repackaged, asked for return and order another one. Arrived today and AGAIN the motor is not attached to the frame, it is missing the four screws that hold it in place, the motor/fan is just hanging there with nothing to hold it in place.I cant understand how LG and Amazon are still selling this unit. I have been pleased with Amazon but this has been a horrible experience.

Overall, this unit is a good choice in the 12,000 BTU range. I'm pleased with its energy rating and its cooling ability and it was relatively easy to install (but see below).By the time you get to the 12,000 BTU size if you are installing it yourself or are very high off the ground, a chassis-insert design is the way to go. I'm not sure who invented it, but it's pretty common among window air conditioners these days and is definitely worth paying a few bucks for. If you haven't seen this design, basically what you do is install the exterior shell of the air conditioner, get that relatively light piece all firmed up, shimmed, and ready and then you slide in the much heavier chassis with the main works.PROS: Energy efficient, cools very well.Relatively easy to install (but see below).Not too loud for the price.Easy, intuitive user interface.Cons: Poor screw hole construction caused me to have to re-drill several screw holes, adding time and annoyance to installation. Also, parts of the manual had pictures which were too small to be helpful. The PDF on LG's website was useful.Noisier than much more expensive units.No automatic or variable air direction.

Got this product from Amazon, and it does NOT work. The fan does not turn. We noticed the fan was hanging- because another reviewer mentioned something similar about their unit, but even when the installer went out and got proper sized screws to properly attach the fan to the unit, the fan still does not work.LG and Amazon have been nice on the phone, though I'm not convinced we will have a working unit within a week. The hassle is huge and is not worth it. Two issues: the machine doesn't work. Second, one service company that could have come to repair it earlier DOES NOT ACCEPT online receipts (ie Amazon)for warranty repairs- .... so we have to wait 4 days for another repair company, that does work with LG to come out. I really hope they can fix it in one trip.It took 3 + hours of a professional to install- and since Amazon insisted we send everything back if we wanted an exchange- which would have meant de- installing the sleeve- and then reinstalling another one- we decided to try an get it repaired- and let the service company deal with everything- but no matter how this turns out, this is a huge pain and will have taken at least 2 days to get working( assuming they repair it on their first visit and come with the proper parts).I do NOT recommend buying an AC on line, ever.UPDATE:repair man eventually discovered that the wire connecting to the the motor had not been attached !!!! one simple final step in its manufacture had not been done. it was so simple, if i had known to take off the cover over the motor of the fan, i could have seen the loose wire and connected it to the wire--- but i didn;t and was hot for a week longer than i needed to be). since then the ac works fine, though i realize it would be nice if the thermostat showed the current temperature as well as the temperature it is set at (trying to get too). Other wise nice until once we got it working!
